MCG was identified with Vanderbilt University and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences as the top three teaching hospitals in America for best performance in radiology. The award was presented in Chicago as part of a seminar for academic medical centers.
UHC developed the Imaging Services Benchmarking Project to identify the best performers in radiology and to share practices with other UHC members. The project identifies several key components including: cost for services per procedure, labor productivity, supply cost management, access to services, utilization of radiology services for major diagnoses and customer satisfaction.
The UHC is an alliance of the clinical enterprises of academic health centers. Its mission is to help its members pool resources, create economies of scale, improve clinical and operating efficiencies, and influence the direction and delivery of health care.
"Our goal is to provide the very best patient care possible. We use our resources for scanning patients and we manage those resources well," said Radiology Department Chairman and Medical Director Dr. Jim Rawson.
