MCGHealth Cancer Center . . . Designed for Patients, By Patients

Nellie with studentsThe new MCGHealth Cancer Center outpatient facility is designed like no other healthcare facility in the area.  It is designed for patients, by patients. Who better to consult when designing a new building or developing a new service than the very patients that have already experienced health care in our current setting?

Leading the Nation in Patient Family Centered Care

When MCGHealth encouraged patients and their families to participate in their care, we started something that would fundamentally and philosophically revolutionize how health care is delivered. That’s because Patient Family Centered Care is a partnership based as much on trust and empathy as it is on advanced technology, medical science and the art of patient care. Happy results are what all of us in health care aspire to every day. Better medicine. Better outcomes. Some call that revolutionary. We prefer to call it better care.

Saluting our Patients Advisors

In addition to bringing a unique perspective to the how clinical care is developed, our patient advisors guided planners and designers of the MCGHealth Cancer Center by choosing the southern flowers theme, suggesting artwork designs to incorporate and determining the most patient-friendly wayfinding signage, among other things.
