MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center Fun Facts
  • In 2005, we treated over 5,000 kids as inpatients and over 21,000 kids in our Pediatric Emergency Department.

  • A full-time nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will change an average of 1,872 diapers in one year.

  • If all the crayons used by the School Services Program in a year were lined up end-to-end, the line of crayons would stretch the length of nine football fields.

  • Last year, our school teachers taught 2,784 school days, the equivalent of a classroom of sixteen students for one school year.

  • Over 3,000 toys were given to children having surgery in 2004.

  • Thirty-four Radio Flyer wagons are available to transport kids and their belongings.

  • Six dogs - and their owners - visited our patients more than 72 times last year through the Pet Therapy program.

  • A Child Life Specialist will share the surgical preparation book over 500 times each year with kids having surgery.

  • Over 1,600 families visited the Family Resource Library in 2004 accessing health information or resources.
