Neonatal Transport Team
MCG Children's Medical Center is the designated tertiary hospital in East Central Georgia for neonates who require intensive or immediate care. These neonates may be transported by the dedicated Neonatal Transport team. This team transports accepted neonates from all over the state of Georgia who require services that MCG provides.
Services:
Services provided by the Neonatal Transport Program are designed to meet the needs of the patients and their families and are provided within a patient/family centered care philosophy.
Types and Ages of Patient Served:
The Neonatal Transport Program services critically ill neonates. Diagnosis include, but not limited to: prematurity, severe and/or persistent apnea, respiratory distress/failure, seizures, congenital heart disease, any disorder requiring specialty services, any disorder possibly requiring ECMO and other congenital anomalies.
Staff:
Patient care is delivered by registered nurses and registered respiratory therapists. One registered nurse and one registered respiratory therapist comprise a team and go on transport together. The medical staff includes neonatology attending physicians, fellows, residents and interns. A full range of physician sub-specialty services are provided on a consultative basis.
