National Pancake Day is a centuries-old tradition on the day before Lent, also known as Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras. For centuries, the English have celebrated pancakes on this day with rich lore and colorful events, including pancake races. This year, Shrove Tuesday, which is February 5, is Election Day, so Governor Sonny Perdue has issued a proclamation celebrating National Pancake Day in Georgia a week later on February 12.
