Dr. Hughes Honored for Volunteerism February 21, 2008 Augusta, GA--Neurologist Dr. Mary D. Hughes, Medical Director of the Augusta Multiple Sclerosis Center at MCGHealth, recently received the Volunteer of the Year - Healthcare Professional and Researcher Award from the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr. Hughes received the award based on the number of years she has been affiliated with the Georgia Chapter as well as her public education efforts on the Chapter’s behalf.
Dr. Hughes is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Clinical Advisory Council of the Georgia Chapter. She is also on the Clinical Advisory Council of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. She serves on the Board of Directors, the National Medical Advisory Council and the Strategic Task Force Committee, and is chairwoman of the African American Advisory Committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
