Homer Barnes, RN, BSN, MSN, CNAA, BC, has been named Nurse Manager of the 5 West Medical Unit, which treats general to advanced medical patients. 

He brings 30 years of clinical experience to his new position. Previously, he was the Clinical Manager of Medical/Surgical Services at Roper Saint Francis Health Care in Charleston, S.C.  Prior to that, he was the Associate Director of Inpatient Hematology/Oncology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. 

He has an Associate degree in Nursing from Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville Va., a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Averett College in Danville, Va., and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He holds certifications in advanced nursing administration and emergency nursing.

He is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, and nursing honor societies Sigma Theta Tau, Alpha Chi and Phi Theta Kappa.
