Pat Sodomka was recently named a member of the Advisory Group on Patient-Centered Care for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Sodomka is Senior Vice President of Patient- and Family-Centered Care at MCG Health, Inc. and Director of the Center for Patient- and Family-Centered Care at the Medical College of Georgia. She spearheaded MCG Health System’s development into a patient- and family-centered care institution, and was featured nationally in the PBS series, “Remaking American Medicine,” which focused on MCG Health System and its partnerships with patient and families.

She holds a Master’s in Hospital and Health Services Administration at Ohio State University and has more than 27 years’ experience in health care management.

As a member of the Advisory Group, Sodomka will examine existing resident education systems and models that support patient-centered care, and develop recommendations on how to advance patient-centered care in teaching settings as an established part of residents’ education.

A report and a symposium on patient-centered care and learner-centered education will be the products of the Advisory Group’s efforts.
