Care Pages Help Patients Stay in TouchJune 11, 2007Augusta, Ga.

Keeping up with loved ones in the hospital, particularly if you live far away, can be hard. And for patients, and worried family members staying with patients, fielding multiple calls and questions from concerned friends and family can make an anxious situation even more stressful.

As a solution, MCG Health System began offering Care Pages in early 2007. Care Pages are private, personalized Web pages provided as a free service to patients and family members before, during and after their hospital stay, with no expiration date.

“Care Pages are easy to create, and are an easy way to help patients, families and friends stay in touch,” said Kim Marlatt, Marketing and Planning Director. “And you don’t even have to be a patient at MCG Health System to use them. This is a service we offer for the entire community.”

Care Pages are secure, and can only be accessed by those whom the patient or family members designate. Each page features sections for patient updates, photos (up to 16) and a message board so friends and families can send notes of encouragement and support. Those designated will also receive an email alert whenever an update is added to the Care Page.

To create a Care Page, log on to www.MCGHealth.org, click on the Care Pages link and follow the steps.
