Augusta, GA - CSRA physicians now have a powerful new weapon in their fight to diagnose and treat strokes, aneurisms and vascular malformations. The Neuroangiography Suite at MCG Hospitals and Clinics allows doctors to take a more detailed look at your arteries than is possible by any other means. This is the only suite in the region that allows doctors to view this information as three-dimensional images.

"We now have the ability to save many more lives," said Dr. Jeffrey A. Stone, an Interventional Neuroradiologist in the Radiology Department. "With this new technology, we have the ability to detect weak spots in the wall of a vessel before they rupture and cause significant morbidity and even death. The Neuroangiography Suite is also more comfortable and convenient for patients and provides therapy unavailable elsewhere in the community. For example, this is the only facility in the area where we can perform coiling of aneurysms to eliminate the risk of life threatening bleeding. Typically, our patients have gone home within two days as opposed to the three to five day hospital stay associated with open brain surgery."

The Neuroangiography Suite is used for a number of different procedures involving the X-ray or surgical repair of the spine, arteries and other parts of the vascular system.
