WHAT: On Sunday, October 14, an undetermined number of bears will roll into town riding hogs. Teddy bears, that is. The Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans will have a motorcycle motorcade from Hephzibah to the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center. Approximately 90 motorcycles and 150 riders will participate. WHEN: Sunday, October 14, 2001. The motorcade leaves Hephzibah at approximately 1:00 p.m. and arrives at the MCG Children's Medical Center at approximately 1:45 p.m. WHERE: The motorcade will begin at the Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans Headquarters, 4010 Deans Bridge Road in Hephzibah. It will proceed to Gordon Highway and turn onto Walton Way. The motorcade will take Walton Way to the CMC. WHY: The toys donated by the Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans will stock the CMC's Toy Store. Hospitalization and surgery can be frightening for a child. The CMC eases those fears by having each child select a special toy from the Toy Store that is there when they wake after surgery, stays with them during their hospitalization and goes home with them.
