Marcus O. Harrington has been named Director of Patient Access Services at MCG Hospitals and Clinics. His responsibilities include managing the insurance pre-certification and registration process for patients seeking to access emergency services, ambulatory surgery, labor and delivery, and inpatient admissions. Mr. Harrington joined MCG Health, Inc. in 1997 as Supervisor of the Patient Access Services Department. In 2000, he was appointed Interim Director of the unit. Prior to joining MCG Health, Inc., he was an Account Specialist with the Missouri Workers Compensation Plan, and was an Administrative Manager/Fellow and Administrative Resident with The Medical Center of Louisiana. Mr. Harrington is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and earned a Masters degree in Public Administration in Health Care Administration. MCG Healthcare is the health system of the Medical College of Georgia and is comprised of MCG Health, Inc. and the clinical services offered by the faculty of the School of Medicine and the members of the Physicians Practice Group. MCG Health, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation operating the MCG Hospitals and Clinics, Children's Medical Center, the Georgia Radiation Therapy Center and related clinical facilities and services.
