Augusta, GA -- MCG HealthCare's Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and biotechnology company Amgen will co-sponsor a free open forum on how on improve the chemotherapy experience on Thursday, November 15, 2001 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Club House on Washington Road. People with cancer and their families and medical professionals are invited to attend. Lunch will be provided. Complimentary parking is available at The Club House. Premier oncology experts from MCG HealthCare will discuss why and how to prepare for chemotherapy, and manage the emotional and physical side effects of chemotherapy, and resources for patients and caregivers. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the program. "The word 'chemotherapy' evokes thoughts of side effects such as nausea, infection, neutropenia, and hair loss. But these side effects are now more manageable than ever before," said Gita Giddens, RN, Oncology Nurse Coordinator. |
