MCG HEALTH, INC. TO TRANSFER NEARLY $9 MILLION TO MEDICAL COLLEGE OF GEORGIA
MEDIA ADVISORY AND PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

WHAT: MCG Health, Inc., will give nearly $9 million to the Medical College of Georgia. President and CEO Don Snell will present the check to Medical College of Georgia President Dan Rahn at the hospital's annual board meeting.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at 1:15 pm.

WHERE: The MCG Health, Inc. annual board meeting will take place in the Children's Medical Center Main Conference Room (BT-1810), Harper Street, Augusta.

WHY: Academic medical centers have three primary missions-- patient care, education and research. To carry out these missions, academic medical centers must provide a full range of clinical services and maintain the infrastructure to foster education and research. A percentage of the margin generated by the hospital's revenues goes to support the Medical College of Georgia's teaching and research programs.

MCG HealthCare is the health system of the Medical College of Georgia and is comprised of MCG Health, Inc. and the clinical services offered by the faculty of the School of Medicine and the members of the Physicians Practice Group. MCG Health, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation operating the MCG Hospitals and Clinics, Children's Medical Center, the Georgia Radiation Therapy Center and related clinical facilities and services.
