Children's Champions

At MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center, miracles happen every day. We invite you to learn about just a few of these miracles. These are stories about courageous children, devoted families, and determined physicians and nurses. They are stories about bringing world-class care and leading edge research right to the bedside of some very ill children. These are stories of survival . . . survival that is due in large part to the generosity of people giving gifts that make many happy endings.

Because there are children like . . .

Adam

Adam
When you listen to Adam play piano or watch him win the school-wide Spelling Bee, the braces on his legs are not noticeable.

Austin

Austin
Austin and his parents knew the day would come when Austin would need heart surgery to repair a leaking aortic valve.
Asia

Asia
Asia is a “miracle” child to more than just her mother. Unexpectedly born at home, Asia weighed little more than one pound when she arrived at the MCGHealth Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Cody

Cody
One look at Cody’s captivating smile and you soon forget that he does so from his small wheelchair.
Henry

Henry
It’s hard to believe that at 10 months-old, Henry had already undergone more surgeries than most people experience in their entire lifetime

Jamie Jamie
Judging from the amount of energy Jamie displays, it is hard to imagine this blond hair bombshell ever had trouble sleeping.
Laura Lauren
Weighing 10 pounds, 14 ounces at birth, most people would think that Lauren would be a healthy, bouncing baby girl. But immediately after birth, Lauren experienced a rapid heart rate and began having difficulty breathing.

Mason

Mason
As a pediatric registered nurse, Mason’s mom was hesitant to fully explore his language delays. She knows first-hand the risk of “labeling” a child inappropriately. Instead, she chalked up his slow speech development to continuous ear infections.

Stanley

Stanley
When Stanley is on the basketball court, nothing else matters. He plays with his heart and soul – and he, like his teammates, plays from his wheelchair.
Will

Will
At first, it appeared that Will was just experiencing typical stomach aches.
